Cats, de Andrew Lloyd Webber

Musical de Andrew Lloyd Webber - baseado no livro de T.S Eliot "Old Possu's Book of Practical Cats" - uma coleção de poemas. Apesar de sua morte em 1965, T.S. Eliot recebeu um prêmio Tony póstumo por sua contribuição memorável a este musical de sucesso.

"Cats" se tornou grande símbolo da produção musical moderna, provando que os britânicos tinham o talento para produzir musicais no mesmo nível de excelência e criatividade do melhor da Broadway americana.

"Cats" de Andrew Lloyd Webber estreou no New London Theatre em 11 de maio de 1981 com um elenco que incluía: Elaine Paige, Brian Blessed, Paul Nicholas, Wayne Sleep, Sarah Brightman e Bonnie Langford. Neste teatro ficou em cartaz até 11 de maio de 2002, ou seja, 21 anos. Estreou na Broadway de Nova York em 7 de outubro de 1982.
O musical Cats não tem um enredo propriamente dito. A magia de peça está em torno dos figurinos e cenários onde atores se passam verdadeiramente por felinos. Os gatos dançam, cantam e contam suas estórias. Tudo é encantador e a trilha sonora tem preciosidades como a mundialmente famosa canção Memory.
